BG AT 23.4 !!!

Hi I am usually very well controlled type 2. On 4 x metformin a day.
I have been off colour for a few days and have sever bloating in my tum :sick: :sick:
Decided just do a couple of random checks today and bg was 19.4 pre lunch and 23.4 just now.
Should I get an emergency app with the doctor do you think or is it just because I'm not so good :?: :?:
More over shall I panic or not I am in work at the moment and having no trouble completing my job. :!: :!:

Sorry to hear you're not feeling good. Your BG could be high in response to whatever is causing you to be bloated and off colour.
If it was me, I would try to get an emergency app with your doctor.

How long have you had the bloating for?

A few weeks, not gassy or anything just bloated so I ignored it, :shock: :shock:
Reached the stage where I now look pregnant :crazy: :crazy:

What are your levels normally?

Have you been eating or drinking anything usual?

Can you speak to a doctor or nurse on the phone tonight?
Keep records of all you eat and drink and your results in the short term

Hi. Blood sugar normally rises with illness. I would keep regularly checking your blood sugar and at least for a while reduce carbs which may help a bit with bloating and sugar. If the sugar still goes up or you have other worse symptoms then of course see the doc quickly. When on tablets I sometimes went into the 20s. Not a short-term problem if it's spikes and normally much lower. Keep an eye out for Ketone smell of course.

Ok, if it's being going on for a few weeks, then don't ignore it any longer, go to see your GP.
You can ignore it for a few days ... put it down to Metformin, constipation or other stomach upset, BUT a few weeks
is not right ... especially if your appetite is not as good as normal.

There can be any number of reasons for your bloating - mostly unrelated to diabetes..
One diabetes related reason is gastroparesis where your stomach doesn't empty properly - this may cause BG swings such as
you are experiencing....

But I'm not a doctor ..... I'm mostly a scaredy cat!! :lol: so I would go to your GP asap.
I don't want to scare you (well .... only enough to go to your GP sooner rather than later) but please don't ignore it any longer.

If it turns out to be nothing - then you can blame me for being a scaredy cat :lol: but please go and have it investigated.
For your own peace of mind if nothing else.

Hi thanks for your responses levels are normally between 6 and 9
No diet change I low carb, no drinks change I onlt drink tea and the occasional alcohol one if and when I go out :lol:
I am feeling very tired
waiting for the doc to call me back after she has finished evening surgery
 
Been in to see the Doc this morning she has taken bloods arranged a gynae app and an ultrasound :!: :!:
Said to monitor my bloods and any other symptoms call, her back or go to A and E if I am disorientated or concerned :?: :?:
Concerned would be an under statement right now :| :|

I'm glad to hear you managed to see your doctor last night. Sorry to hear your BG is still high today. Has she given you any advice on that?

I just wondered if maybe your machine was kaput, as the rise is abnormal for you.

Hi Cara,

There is some form of illness causing the bloat :?
That's causing the high sugars its reducing daily though 18.1 today, never thought I would smile at a reading like that but I feel back in control
Scan and gynaecology Monday
See what that brings

Scan and test found nothing wrong
They think its all hormonal and linked the contraceptive injection that I have as the lining of my womb has become very thick
I need to not have any contraception for 6 months and see if it calms down after which they will do a scrape and fit a coil
He has recommended that I drink peppermint tea its yuck :sick:
