Well done Bio. As you say, they are coming down nicely. Keep the carbs down, and they will come down further. Well done.

You're doing really well

Looking like you've cracked it and things are coming down nicely.

Brilliant

This is my readings from last night before going to sleep till tonight just before I go to sleep.

I think this is pretty good, after only diagnoses 2 weeks ago, what should I be aiming for? 5.0? 4.5? It's the excersize that's not happening really. I need to address that.

21/05/2012 23:38 Night. 6.0 --- --- ---
21/05/2012 21:04 Post-Dinner 5.6 --- --- ---
21/05/2012 17:41 Pre-Dinner 5.6 --- --- ---
21/05/2012 15:53 Post-Lunch 5.4 --- --- ---
21/05/2012 15:01 Post-Lunch. 6.2 --- --- ---
21/05/2012 10:35 Post-Breakfast 7.2 --- --- ---
21/05/2012 07:48 Pre-Breakfast 6.4 --- --- ---
20/05/2012 23:52 Night 5.3

Stunning set of numbers Bio bl**dy well done

As for where you want to aim long term.

As we've been bashing into you 7.8 is the max safe value. One way of looking at that is to imagine that 7.8 is the highest value an average non diabetic person would get. If the average non diabetic got a higher value they'd be diabetic because they'd be exceeding 7.8 and therefore running risks of getting diabetic complications.

So 7.8 is the value 100% of the average non diabetic population gets two hours after eating.

Now following on from that research has shown

6.5 is the value that 19 out of 20 (95%) of non diabetics achieve at 2 hours
5.5 is the value that 15 out of 20 (75%) of non diabetics achieve at 2 hours

So when I was where you are now I set myself the target of being under 7.8 at ONE hour and 6.5 at TWO hours with a long term aim of doing 7.8 after ONE hour and 5.5 after TWO hours. Apart from the occasional time off for good behaviour I meet the 6.5 target 100% of the time nowadays and the 5.5 target probably something like 95% of the time.

I do that with fasting levels that are usually just around 5 in the morning and 4.5 by the evening.

Thanks guys, I feel rather good and fortunate to get to this stage quickly. I have been so good with a low carb diet (30-50g) per day.

I was also lucky in the same respect Bio. Diagnosed on a Monday, began low carbing (10-20g a day) on Tuesday, by the following week my figures were much lower, and are now really good. Few of us are this lucky to gain control so quickly, so hang on to you brilliant figures.

Congratulations, I love the smell of new babies, but am now waiting for grand babies (you can love them, spoil them, but then hand them back :D ). If that isn't good enough motivation, then I don't know what is. :D
