When people who know nothing about the LCHF diet tell me I'm killing myself being on it. I was killing myself not being on it!
The readings might not be great, but I've now written everything into an A4 notebook and they go up and down a bit, but from my first reading of the day to my last reading there is a dip, maybe not a big dip, but they are going down slowly. My morning readings are now getting better. I took grandson No 2 out for lunch today and his choice of cafe had only one salad that I could eat. Cajun chicken, lots of salad leaves, very few baby tomatoes, think it was one chopped up very small! cucumber and about a desert spoon of sour cream, but left most of that as I wasn't sure if I should have it. Returned the coleslaw and bread. Cup of chai tea (no milk) and a glass of water. before meal 8.3 2 hrs later 10.3 but 3 hrs 9.0 One pork sausage (85%) spinach and broccoli for tea and a cup of ordinary black tea. 6 rasps and blueberries, 2 dsp double cream and 2 dsp Greek yogurt. I notice in my notes that avocado gives me better readings afterwards.
My notes started out in a 'shorthand' notebook, then into an A5 notebook, now transferred into an A4 with blue for readings that go down and red for the bad ones! There are more blue than red :) I bought myself a bar of 85% dark chocolate, but so far have only had 1/2 square in a week. I can now turn down chocolate without missing it.

Beryl, most salad's fine (ideal in fact!) but don't go overboard on the tomatoes. Sour cream is good as it also has very few carbs, and neither does chicken - if there were ever to be any issues with that, they might come from the way it was cooked, and not from the poultry itself.

Your liver will often give you a rather inelegantly named "dump" in the morning to ensure you have enough glucose for energy to start the day, so we do often start off higher. As you go through the day, activity and meals mean your glucose levels get used and replenished, but generally you will end up with a bit less remaining than you started with. So nothing to be overly concerned with!
