Why do all the companies give away glucose meters for free ..... but only to insulin users???

Are the rest of lowly T2's not good enough?

It would appear the Nice guidelines suggest we should all get BG meters as part of our "education"?

I test every day....sometimes 3-4x day surely I would be a prime candidate for them? Even if you test once a day they would quickly be making a lot of dosh from us?

I test up to 9 times a day, thank whoever, I could persuade my GP to put them on my prescription.

I'm sure if you explain to the meter companies that you test 3-4 times a day they may send a meter out free of charge, they know most type 1's test multiple times a day and that is why they are keen to send them out on request.

you may want to invest in a cgm...expensive but great piece of kit...saves a pin prick all the time....had one on me during the TEAM BG cycle tour....interesting was
take a energy gel....bang BG up (this was at the end of the day when you are knackered and BG was around 3.9-4)....but take a few blocks of chocolate and the BG increases steadily but slowly....moral of the story....the fat releases the sugar slower or is broken down slower....

Im not too fussed ....have about 3 meters here at home....but simply wondering why they discriminate....

It's all about the profit unfortunately, although I'm a firm believer that everyone should have access to a bg meter and strips no matter what type of diabetes they have.

Not sure that's 100% true @Brightside I'm T2 not on insulin. on this very forum one of the ads was for a free accu check mobile meter I applied and got one sent free of charge.
If you don't ask you don't get
Now if they would only send me free test cassettes for it I would be a happy bunny.

I'm a type 2 and got my meter from Bayer for free. If you go to the product on their website you can request any of them.
Any Type2 can get a meter. The problem is that majority of surgeries will not supply the strips on prescription.

i have completed at least four of the advertised links on here for different devices and have always been declined....
