Just wondering if anybody can recommend a BG monitor that only requires small amounts of blood?
I currently have a Freestyle Lite that only needs 0.3 μL of blood. I like it but I'm on my 3rd as they keep breaking down and sometimes the readings seem unreliable.
Before that I had an OneTouch Ultra that seems to take a lot of blood 1μL and left me with sore fingers.

Quite surprised as I foung the One Touch Ultra seemed to need less than anything else I have used
and the pen one of the least damaging I have ever used - I am wondering if you had the needle set too deep or if you are just testing too often and did you remember to twist the end each time so you were getting new needles from the catridge - I am on insulin and usually test between 2 - 4 times a day because I can adjust things with insulin dosage at each meal - however I would have thought on metformin with reasonable control that you only need to test a few times a week or when you have tried some different food and want to measure how it reacts. Even on insulin I sometimes have a few days rest between testing.
Another tip was that my diabetic nurse suggested using the edge of the fingertip rather than the fingertip itself which is tougher and more difficult to bleed anyway. Also the few sore spots I do get are less painful as they on part of the fingerips which dont come into contact with things so much.
