Unfortunately that takes me from one extreme to the other, the bloating was incredibly uncomfortable when I tried it, not to mention other aspects.

Can you take Immodium daily? Im having the same problems with Metformin and since I'm going on hols soon i was seriously thinking of skipping Metformin for the duration until my sister talked me out of it. Just had a disastrous two days away hence my thinking of skipping.

I really sympathise with your Metformin woes, and spoke to my GP about it. Surprisingly, rather than swapping to a slow-release he asked me to stop taking them for a fortnight. This was to rule out liver-related problems, I guess. BUT, I'm so enjoying the peaceful life, AND my BG's aren't going through the roof, I'm going to suggest I stay off it, or at least lower my dose!
On my countryside and beach rambles I've been known to carry nappy wipes, for emergencies. Not needed yet, but a great comfort.
