Bitter melon

My Asian pharmacist has drawn my attention to a wonder substance called variously bitter melon/bitter gourd/bitter squash/momordica. It seems the whole world knew about it. Certainly in Pakistan, India and China.
Has anyone tried it and can comment on its efficacy or otherwise?
I would be truly grateful for feedback, please.
 
It's a pretty good fruit that lowers blood sugar and bolsters any remaining beta cells your pancreas has left.
I know of no ill side effects, (diarrhoea perhaps though rare) Many swear by it. It comes in fruit, juice and tablet and powder forms.
Also consider gymnema sylvestre if it's a route you decide to take.
