Hello, I have been looking at the reason why Type 1 Diabetics can not join the UK military: Currently the UK military allows you to serve if you're currently diagnosed within service. The training that they would encounter (depending on branch), and have done is far harder than what you would receive to join the military; depending on the branch. This all blows my mind as to why a regular civilian couldn't enlist in a role that wouldn't be front line etc... from first hand experience, nothing will change my mind.

UK armed forces won't accept anyone who needs medication for a chronic condition. I totally understand this as imagine that you are in a conflict situation and you need (whatever) you medication is , you can't just stop to take it. Was disappointed many years ago as I wanted to be a helicopter engineer in the navy, but couldn't join up as I was asthmatic

You enlist and the forces choose your role usually. you don't have the chance to pick and choose until your in. There are a few specialist fields you can try out for, i was intending when younger to join the Air Force, and do an Air frame and Propulsion technician apprenticeship.

Not true. You apply, sit the exams and then depending on your results and qualifications are offered a range of trades. You then agree from there which trade that you go forward with your application.
