Blood glucose high before breakfast.

HI i have type2 and been taking my blood glucose readings for about a month now and i'm
constantly getting pre breakfast readings of between 10 and 12, even though the rest of the day
they are between 5 and 6 before food and between 6 and 8 two hours after, and when i take it just before bed
its been between 5 and 7 so how does it rise overnight.
 
Hi, welcome. It's very common for an early morning BG rise as the liver dumps glucose before you get up in preparation for the day ahead. 10-12 is quite a spike though, even though it seems to come down quickly. Have a search on here for 'dawn phenomenon'.

Do you test before or after showering? Showering causes a rise for some reason.

This may help you understand what is happening: I Ate Nothing! Why Are My BGs high?

There are some tips in that to help, but my first tip is to have breakfast reasonably soon after waking, to 'switch off' that liver dump.
