Hi I have a I-care advanced tester, and my friend has a glucolab...I tested myself using my machine and the readings were 5:0... Then tested on my friends machine (glucolab) and the readings were 6:7... Why would the readings be so different on two machines. ,, and which one is the accurate one....

Hello and welcome.

A short answer to your question is neither of them is accurate. No meters are. In the UK they have to comply with a plus or minus 15% accuracy. It is best to stick to one meter only as this will show your trends. If you are on insulin it is a different matter.

Also, testing itself isn't accurate. You can get wildly different consecutive readings, whether you use the same finger, different fingers, or even the same drop of blood.

@Giverny, I wonder if we need a sticky post on "Why are my meter results different from X" as it is a recurring question.
