I used to hypo in my sleep many months ago, although I didn't know it at the time. It was before I was even aware of my RH symptoms, but I would often wake with a head ache in the morning. Occasionally I would wake in the night wet through with sweat and feeling not at all right. At the time my husband would always get the chocolate out before bedtime and I couldn't resist some. This obviously made me hyper and therefore I hypo'd in my sleep. I now have a little snack/supper between 8.30 and 9pm and I now feel fine in the night. I don't check my bg before bed (never have) and I don't know what it does in the night (I checked it around 3am a couple of times and it was low 5's) but my fasting level is always in normal range unless I'm under the weather. My evening snack is either a couple of multigrain crackers with butter and cheese (I can have 4 and they raise me no higher than 6 which is usually max 1mmol/l increase) or Greek yogurt and a few berries. I usually treat myself to a square or two of 85% dark chocolate as well [emoji6] I'm curious @nosher8355, why shouldn't we eat until we hypo? I'm not questioning your advice, I'm just trying to understand and learn. I had a 2 hour post meal reading of 5.3 one day last week, which if fine but I was already beginning to feel hungry and a little shaky. Knowing this isn't hypo level I held off eating and tested again in 20 mins time. I was then 4.9 and feeling irritable. I just ate my supper a little earlier and my symptoms eased. I avoided a hypo and it's after effects so to me that was the best result. The only thing I don't know of course is if I would have actually hypo'd and if my symptoms are a result of me not being used to being as low as that. I hope all is well with you and family comes first [emoji4]
