My Doctor told me that unloading my van is not excersise, well i tested then did two schools and my number went from 7.1 down to 3.9 in 45 mins.
From where I was I had motorway all the way back to my yard for about two hours, not a good idear to start driving a 7.5 tonne van when at 3.9.
So much for being told i can only test twice a week, thats why i have to buy my own strips.
Not alowing people to have all the test equipment to meet there personal neads is just so dangerous.

Did you take your meter and show the doc. this drop in 45 minutes! Maybe you should challenge the doc. to unload your van and see if he still thinks that it is not exercise!

I can do better that taking my meter i have the Accu-chek meter with the computer program that give all the meter info in easy to understand forms like charts , pie charts and graph so it says out loud I NEED TO TEST MORE THAT TWICE A WEEK.
Just wait till i see him at my next revew.

Had the same issues with my G.P. - Got my consultant to write to him explaining the importance of regular monitoring and that seemed to do the trick- back to my 3 times a day finger pricking habitit Hoorah!

Hi Whitevanman,

When you see the doc, if he still refuses despite the evidence you will be able to give him, especially around the safety aspects, just ask him to confirm to you in writing that he will not prescribe test strips and to explain in writing on what grounds. If he asks why, you can say that you need it for police and insurance evidence in case you were to have an accident as a result of a hypo that you are not being allowed to test for.
