Blood in canula

I had a bad 2 days this week with firstly a set not taking properly (silhouette 45degree teflon one) and then the next one seeming to work but then stopping. When I took it out there was blood in the canula and I think it was blocking delivery. I couldn't see any blood around the insertion site while it was in as it was all under the skin. Has anyone else had this and how do you avoid it happening again?

You could try 30 degrees rather than 45. Also, steer clear of sites with large veins

Thanks but the one that failed to go in properly was closer to 30 degrees and the site had no large vein.
