Since switching over to Insulin, my blood pressure has rocketed from normal to 160/100 or even sometimes even higher.
Is this caused by insulin?

Couldn't say for sure, but if your bp is averaging around 160/100 then you need to see your gp as that is way above what it should be.

No it isn't :) If insulin caused high BP then every person in the land would have high BP as we all either produce our own or inject the substitute.

As @noblehead say a GP visit is in order.

Actually, insulin therapy can result in a significant increase in blood pressure within some people with type 2 diabetes.

I can't think of much better advice than to start to turn up the heat a little on the lifestyle changes (low calories, more exercise, cutting out processed foods) and aim to wean yourself gradually off insulin.

Because you're on insulin, you'll need to be careful of hypos and make sure you don't risk going too low if you do step up the lifestyle changes. I'd say "if in doubt inject slightly too little insulin rather than risking too much" but anything affecting insulin doses (including any change to lifestyle) is really best discussed with the doctor.
