Blood Pressure?

Hi Dazzy,
Headaches are the only sign of high blood pressure. Not everyone gets these even when their blood pressure is high.
Diabetics need to aim for 120/80. Some manage to get it lower than this.
I don't know how long you have been on BP meds to say if they are not working. You need to discusss your readings with your G.P.

it could do. Ideally bp is around 120/80. You need to see your doctor about it if that is a regular reading. See if he will do a 24 hour test which will tell him accurately how you are in different circumstances. A lot of people are 'white coat' - ie their bp goes up when done by an official.

Cheers

I have no idea what symptoms that blood pressure would give you Dazzy, but it's very high, I would see my GP about it if I were you, sooner rather than later

...Started 2 weeks ago on a 2.5mg tablet, week later 5mg tablet maybe its not the T2 making me feel so rubbish?
I have dropped weight and eating well..T2 and blood pressure seems like it is going to take ages to settle down?

Just back from docs and BP 120/80? still feeling iffy ? so...is it the insulin hanging around in my body? now if the BP can be kept under control it must now be down to exercise and diet? fingers crossed!

That's a far better reading Dazzy, my gp likes the lower figure to be around 70 in people with diabetes and the higher figure below 130, both diet and regular exercise are proven to help lower bp and protect cardiovascular health so keep up this up!

Hi Dazzy,
Onwards and downwards with the blood sugars. I am glad the BP has been ruled out as a possible cause.
When you exercise the muscles will take up the glucose bringing your blood sugars down. You don't have to join a gym but just keep active and maybe fit in some exercise that you haven't been doing.
Threee 10 minute walks spaced throughout the day, cleaning windows, washing the car etc..... all these things will help. Tai Chi is an excellent form of exercise if you need to get your stamina going, it is very easy on the joints and has a calming effect. Some start dancing classes as this is a great workout.
Obviously for anyone with other health problems that limit their mobility it is a good idea to seek help from your Dr/Physio to see what would be suitable for you.

Hi guys, dont want people worrying unduly, so the "diabetic's target" of 120/80 concerns me, as I have always been advised that the target is 130/80.

Or is it a simple case of differing advice?

All the Best Steve

Hi, what meds are you taking for the high blood pressure? Do you feel stressed? Are you worrying bout your diabetes? or other things? What job do you do? normal bang on BP is 120 over 80. mine at worst was 210 over 98 with a septis infection never been same since either!! my last 2 BP at clinic were 159 and 156 this wedsnesday. Am on 3 types of vasildialators for it now. Some days when am high with BP I do have a real thick muzzy n muggy head worse with combined high blood sugars... Am also grumpy n get easily stressed these times. Hard to' chill ' when you're feeling rough though you know it's what you need! Anna.x

Also :
PCT Hypertension Guidelines recommend an ‘optimal’ target BP <130/80mmHg in
patients with diabetes, however the audit standard of 140/80mmHg would be
acceptable in the absence of renal or vascular disease.
