Hello new to the forum,
I have a question about my husband he is a type 2 diabetic of whom don't watch what he eats or listens. Anyways on occasion his legs will spray blood about 2 to 3 feet acrossed the room for no apparent reason, his doctor says its from diabetis and gives him slow k for his veins they say they are weak. How can we stop this from happening just a few days ago i had to pack a small pin hole with cotton and add pressure with tape to get it to stop and after 1 hr and a changein the packing it finally stopped. Please help. Thank You

Hi. I'm sorry to hear of the problem; sounds very worrying. I'm afraid I can only state the obvious i.e. your husband MUST take care of his diet and take any medications prescribed by the GP. If not already doing this, your husband must keep his carbohydrate down to a level that keeps his blood sugar within the right range. Does he have blood glucose level meter? The GP may/should provide this but if not do buy one. Reduce the amount of bread and flour-based products, pasta etc and for those that he does eat keep them low-GI. This means wholemeal or multi-grain flour. Of course don't have any sugar added to drinks etc. Look at the labels of all the food you buy as much of it is stuffed with sugar or too many carbs. If the blood sugar remains too high for many months and years then the circulatory system will become increasingly blocked as the blood becomes more sticky; the outcome is not desirable. BTW if your husband doesn't listen perhaps you can adjust his diet or the ingredients to some extent without him realising?
