I recently asked my GP for a script for some test strips for my monitor and was alarmed to be told that the PCT would n longer be able to issue strips as they were now going to be giving test strips for urine testing instead. How will this help me monitor my blood sugar levels, I would have though it would only show if there was sugar in the blood? has anybody else been told this?? I'd be glad to hear from you all. Thanks :(

Hi Marg

I'm type 2 and my Doctor wont prescribe test strips, I buy my own (you can get the VAT off them, being diabetic) I recently went on a DESMOND course and they went on about the benefits of urine testing even going as far as saying we shouldn't be blood testing because making holes in our fingers was not a wise thing to do as a diabetic.

How funny - do tell the doctor from me that we type 1s seem to manage ok. In fact if we don't make holes in our fingers for regular blood tests, we get told we are non-compliant. Hey ho. What excuses they do use when the money is tight.

I love the way that 'making holes in your fingers' is a terrible idea, but multiple injections into your stomach are clearly not a problem .
