Hi
I was just wondering what blood sugar monitors people use, I use a bayer contour but would like to change to one that you don't have to put strips in all the time because I do quite a bit of sport and I am training for a 100km cycle ride so it would be easier if I didnt have the strips to put in every time I wanted to test my bs levels. Also generally i am quite new to all this was diagnosed just under a year ago so was wondering what monitors people liked in general ?

thanks

There's this from Accu-Check a drum of 6 lancets/50 test strips, which would go some way towards elimination the need to handle individual strips/lancets.

I suppose Unistick might be an alternative if changing the lancets (quite fiddly with e.g. my Xceed/Easytouch) is an issue - just twist off the cap, use and discard (in accordance with local regulations).

I use the one touch ultra easy. It was the one I was given by the hospital when I was diagnosed and I've just carried on with it.

I find it pretty easy to use, though you do still have to insert strips and lancets. I think they have changed the design on the finger pricker recently as when I got a spare a couple of months ago it was a different colour to my original one and it much less painful to use. It's fairly small to carry round too.

The downside is that it does not have any extra features, there is no way to store your insulin dose on it or look at graphs of your previous test results. You can download hte results to your computer but it would be handy to have it on the meter.
