Hi All,
Have just joined and have a question.
I checked my blood sugar this morning at 7.05am it was 9.8mmol, I came to work and checked my sugar again at 8am and it had shot up to 12.5mmol!
Why does this happen? I haven't eaten anything and have taken my metformin (2 x 500G and 1 x 100mg Labetalol-nelwy started). This isnt the first time this has happened and although I have been a diabetic for over 20 yrs I think I have just had my head in the sand and now me and my husband want to start a family I am finding it difficult to control my diabetes.

Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks
xx

Hi. It could be due to the liver dumping glucose i.e. the so-called 'Dawn Phenomenon'. The liver does dump extra glucose to get the body ready for the start of day.

This happens to me every day. I have tried everything to stop this. I am on a very high dose of levimir in the morning which is helping slightly. I have been approved for a pump to start in the summer so hopefully it may help.
