blood sugars 11.5 1 hour after carbs

Hi im new on here and just wanted some info plz. I am pre diabetic. usually my blood sugar on a eve is aeound 7 but tonight it was 11 after a carb meal an hour and half after. it has never been this high. ahould I be worried as im on antibiotics and steroids at mo aswell for chest infection . thanks

I wouldnt be too woried you seem to have several thing going on here with infections and so forth pluss a heavly carbed meal you should also wait for 2 hours before testing (from end of meal not when you sat down to eat) infections arw known to have affects on bgs any way and bgs can slow the recovery time so may be worth talking to dr. But also if you get a high reading wash your hands and recheck . I had 2 off readings last night and on the 3rd reading I got a proper one again (I know this as have 2 meters and checked one against the other I also roughly new where id be as had had no carb dinner) it may have been a rouge reading rarther a proper one .

Some steroids are known to raise your BGs, so maybe that could be the cause. Or maybe you ate too many carbs?
