hello
Just having a moan really I was doing really well on 1000mg metformin a day and my blood sugars were 5.5 in a morning and 4.4 pre meal and 5.2 post meal, I was doing low carb and had a few treats like some strawberries and cream every now and then. My ac1 at diagnosis was 64 and a few weeks ago i had it re tested and it was 39. Anyhow my dr decided he wants me off all medication and my blood sugars are higher now than what I’d like I’m between 5.8 and 6.5 in a morning and between 6-7 post meal. I’m finding exorcise no longer has a impact on my bs ( used to lower them ) and I’m no longer having my little treats just to maintain these high numbers. I feel a little defeated like I was doing so well my bs was down I was loosing weight and now I’m just maintaining and the bs are creeping up , sorry for the rant and moan.

You have done so well for your Dr to even think about taking you off all medication. It may take your body a while to adjust to being without the medication but keep on doing what you have been doing, you know it works. Make sure your exercise involves those large muscles in the legs and it will have an effect. The heat will not have helped and while a bit higher the numbers are not disastrous. Treat yourself to a spoonful of neat cream and try to get some sleep.

Thank you, I have been working my arms a lot so I will switch it up and involve legs to.

Can you recommend any time frame or anything it’s something I have glanced over but not been sure about.

Your blood sugars are higher than you’d like but they are ok, and at levels that wouldn’t have resulted in alarm pre diagnosis. The meds were probably giving you some latitude but if you take that away the margins for error are reduced.
You are doing well - keep playing the long term game.

I think you’ve done really well @Lily 2 , I’d be ecstatic with those numbers, but I guess it’s all relative. What effect was exercise having before, how much exercise for what drop in BG before compared to now?

Thank you I swim for a hour and I’m usually around 4.3 after but now I’m high 5s I also lift weights and cross trainers and these are also having no effect.

I skip breakfast every day and try to eat between 1pm and 9 pm fits in with schedule and means I have a 16 hour fasted period each day ( I still drink tea and coffee in that period)
