Could someone please shed some light on my situation?
Im a Mum of a t1 19yr old nonverbal autistic girl. Trying to get these sugars right. Ok shes on novomix 30 twice daily for lifestyle purposes and so far we had been travelling along ok up until now.
Doses are 32u in am 10u pm. I had been giving 9u to her and carb adjusting supper and was winning with good am sugars. Last couple of days doing exactly the same thing and evening sugars were creeping up. So in the morning i adjusted carbs and was seeing a 4 point drop in her am sugars post breakfast...managed to play with carbs and it seemed ok.
Diabetic nurse said she felt 10u was required at night. So i tried this last night. Her sugars overall were lower but i needed to increase her carb intake at supper to prevent her having a hypo. I had to give her 2 slices of low carb bread and a low carb yoghurt thinking it would maintain her sugars during the night.
Tested her x3 last night as she cant tell me her symptoms of hypo/hyper she remained steady dropping max 2 points during night. At 6am i test as she has epilepsy meds at this time and she had dropped 2 more points to 6. Im baffled. Shed eaten, one unit increase, never that low in the morning ...i feel uncomfortable giving her 10u again..want to go back to 9. Her morning dose i think needs cutting back too. Is it wise to cut back one unit today either way 31 and 9 for a few days to see what happens? im frustrated...any advice would be great.
