I have been diagnosed type 2 diabetes for 2 months. I started with glycoside as my Hba1c was high at 13.5, and fasting blood sugar 15.5. It is 6 weeks since I started with glycoside. I now take 320mg glycoside plus 1000mg metformin daily. Today they have added in 100mg Sitagliptin, as I am still getting readings of between 11 and 15. My lowest reading is 11. My readings have come down - I was getting readings in the high 20s!

I am in my mid 50s and have never been obese, maybe a little overweight at times. But I have lost 2.5stones over the last 4 months, I am quite skinny now! I have always had a reasonably good diet and I exercise frequently, walking, cycling, gym. I've cut out refined carbs, and have been trying the LCHF diet for about 1 week, but I don't really want to lose any more weight.

I keep asking the nurse how come this has happened to me? Could there be an underlying condition? Apparently all my other blood tests are good, ie kidney function, liver function. The nurse I saw this morning has given me an appointment with the specialist diabetic nurse next week.

Just wondering if anyone else has had such high blood sugars and trouble bringing them down.

LCHF will bring your BGs down, see how it goes over the next week before your appointment. You could up your fat intake a bit (cheese for instance) and even cut back on your exercise - weight loss/gain is usually a function of calories in vs calories burned and which side of the line you are.
