Blood Suger higher after working out?

Hello,

I was diagnosed with pre diabetes about 7 years ago. I stuck to a strict diet and kept my blood sugar at a normal level. Back then, I worked out at night and my blood sugar would go very low. My endocrinologist said that working out could lower it, but that was okay. Since then, my blood sugar monitor broke and I never replaced it.

Now for the past few years, I've been working out first thing in the morning before eating. I just bought a blood sugar monitor again and tested several times this week before and after workouts. It has been 93 upon awakening and 103 after working out. I googled it to find that blood sugar can also go up after working out.
Does anyone know if this is okay, or am I doing any harm to my body since my blood sugar is going higher?

Thank you so much!

Lisa

93-103 is nothing to worry about it. I bet it's back down within an hour.

Some of us go from 93 to 203! My bs rises quite a bit and more so in the morning.

Most people have a natural rise in the morning as adrenaline and cortisol are waking up.

Test every half hour for a day or two and see what's going on if you're concerned. You might go up a bit from the adrenaline and then come down further.

Hi @Lisa_N welcome to the forum. The benefits of exercise outweigh a small rise to 5.7 in UK figures which is still very much in normal range.

You are definately doing something right if your prediabetes has not progressed to type 2 in 7 years. How is your HBA1C? What prompted you to start testing again?
