I got the results of my 3 month Hba1c and cholesterol tests today.

I was pleased with my Hb1ac which has gone down from 40 to 38.

My cholesterol results were not quite as good.

total cholesterol 6.4 (was 5.6)
triglyceride 0.89 (was 1.22)
HDL 1.7 (was 1.3)
HDL ratio 3.8 (was 4.3)
LDL 4.3 (was 3.7)

The GP wasn't concerned about the cholesterol levels but I would like to get it down if I can.

The GP I have seen since I was diagnosed with prediabetes is off at the moment so I saw a different GP so he doesn't know my history. His first comment when he gave me the results was "it is 38 so you don't have diabetes" the other GP would have said "it is 38 so has gone down, well done". Only a small detail but makes a difference to positive thinking. He didn't seem to understand when I said I was really pleased with the result. He also said you only have one high Hba1c the others are low - doh that's because I have changed my diet!

Congratulation Aqua :D

To be honest, I don't understand cholesterol  Are you dodging statins?

I don't really either to be honest

I am! the GP didn't even mention them.

Some clever folk will no doubt be along soon to interpret your results.

Don't you just want to tell everyone your good news? I can't stop smiling today after mine. Bet you are the same! Lol

First of all very well done!

Secondly though, that quote above just encapsulates how the GP system has gone wrong IMO. Seems like he couldn't even be bothered to do even a cursory check on your notes beforehand even though they must have been readily available on the practice computer system.

Brilliant news about your HbA1c. Well done. Hard work has paid off. Your trigs result is excellent, as is your trigs/HDL ratio (should be under 2 and you are well under that) It's just the LDL that needs a bit of a tweek.

Excellent news. It just shows just much we can achieve with a simply change of diet.
