A few weeks ago, I under went a fasting blood test. The result was 301 (which I don’t understand) but I was told to go a diet to lose weight and to take tablets for 3 months.
I tested my blood a few moments ago just for curiosity and it showed 6.1??
Can someone shed some light? Is it good or bad???
You need to know which units you are measuring in..
Your 301 sounds like it could be US style measurement mg/dl whereas your 6.1 is mmol/l UK style
you can convert here https://www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-sugar-converter.html
Where are you based? What kind of meter do you have and where was your fasting test done?
It sounds like your original blood test gave the results in mg/dl and that would be 16.7 mmol/L which is high.
Your meter reading of 6.1 mmol/L is much better.
You should be aiming for readings of between 4-7 mmol/L before eating and not higher than 8.5 mmol/L two hours after eating.
Ok so the standard units of measurement for blood sugar in Dubai are mg/dl which explains why you got 301 as your first reading. The meter you have is reading in mmol/l so either use the conversion tool I linked to above or multiply your readings by 18 to convert.
Ok it’s the 29th April 2018, since my last post a few weeks I have been very strict on the food I eat on a day to day basis and also started to walk approximately 12,000 steps per day.
Last last 2 days blood tests have been 5.4 and today 5.0 before eating. Feeling pretty cuffed
