Type 2 Blood tests

Hi guys I need advice, I had bloods done yesterday after 12hour fasting which is all well and good however today I was called by the GPsurgery who have asked for me to retest fasting 14hours can this be right has anyone else been asked to fast for 14hours????

My bloods form usually says fast 12-14 hours. Not sure what difference the 2 hours would make.

I was told 14 hours. Easy enough if you have a morning appointment.

All of mine have been twelve hours.

Could it simply be different staff reading the same guidelines 12-14hrs. One seeing the minimum as sufficient and the other seeing the maximum as optimal

Thanks to you all I went for testing this morning and the sister told me that she and lots of other blood takers believe it's subject to the lab processing the bloods which vary quite considerably. Also that it could just be a sample dropped and so another sample required ☺

Yes happened to em once had to redo I went for kidney function blood test the other day and the Nurse I had never seen before was taking 3 phials of blood I said "wow thats a lot of blood for a kidney test" she said "Oh I did not know what it was for so taken for everything" laughs I have them done again in December
