Hi all,
I got diagnosed with T2 at the beginning of Feb this year with a HBa1c of 78. I am now on 3x 500 mg Metformin after I have argued with 2 different doctors at my practice.
It irk at a GP surgery and it seems I was diagnosed and as I work I. The NHs I was left to my own devices to work things out.
I went those my GP again3 weeks ago and said this to him. Also I have not had any repeat blood tests, no cholesterol checks or kidney function. He agreed to do some blood tests, as I am also hypothyroid and my thyroxine was also increased.
I went for the blood tests and found that I have still not ad my kidney function checked, despite being out o to Ramipril in the.middle of Feb.
How often do you have blood tests etc. just because I work at a surgery does not mean I know everything , i am not clinical and when it happens to you it is ssssoooooo different.
Every 6 months here, all things tested, hba1c, kidney, liver function, water tested, prostrate test, and foot inspection, water only tested every 12 months.
I was diagnosed in September last year. I have had two HbA1c tests and have been told that in future this is all I will get once a year. Like you I have hypothyroidism and I also have low platelets. I too was just left to get on with it but luckily found this forum and have managed quite well. (HbA1c down from 85 to 46) I bought a meter and have been buying the strips as this is the only way to work out what is happening and how foods affect me. I am coping without medication for the diabetes at the moment but the doctor was not pleased. I still have high TSH but they don't seem concerned, fortunately I do not seem to have any symptoms from this, so I am just carrying on.
Hope you get the help that you need. Good luck!
I've got to go in for a HBA1c and U+E blood test tomorrow and I do not know if these are fasting tests as the last time I had my HBA1c done was when I got diagnosed back in October and I was so tired back then that I did not know what was going on.
