I have type 2 diabetes and was diagnosed about 4 years ago. I have not had a blood test since May 2012, is this normal as I take medication for high blood pressure and statins for cholesterol too?
Your surgery should remind you every 12 months. Do you not have an annual review of your medication. My Gp wont prescribe repeats if I miss the review.
Suggest you book your own blood test with the surgery and also an appointment with the DN about a week after.
I think some surgeries use computers to flag up the reminders for diabetic reviews etc I would ring up the surgery and ask for a blood test and review in case you have been lost in the system

My surgery never gives me reminders; just a bloods test from for a year's time. I then book the appointments. You should have an annual diabetes assessment so do book one with the surgery and do book two 10 minute slots. The blood test should include fasting, HBa1C plus urine analysis. You should also have an annual retinal scan.
