Well as you all know yesterday was Valentines, So being the good BoyFriend I went to see my g/f to give her some flowers etc.

I had booked a table at TGI Fridays ( I know what your all thinking already) but we like it there. Any way we went out did some shopping she spent lots as they do then went to eat.

So here what I had and my readings.

Before my meal 4.8

Starter : belly pork in a Jack Daniels sauce and cole slaw

Main : Full rack of ribs with JD sauce, Cajun battered onion rings, and sweet potato chips.

At that point I knew I had over done it and thought it's not often we go out for a meal so ******** to t I am having a sweet.

Sweet : Ice cream over apple sauce on a sticky waffle thing.

I know I shouldn't have had any of the above so when I came to do my bloods I was nervous expecting double figures.

I got a pleasant surprise it was 8.7 2 hrs after

Then before bet it was 7.3 and 5.7 when I got up.

I know 8.7 is higher than I would like and it something I won't be doing for a long time again but all things concidered I didn't think it was to bad.

I'd do all that if I only got an 8.7!!! I think it would take me two or three days to eat it all though!!!

Wow, I am not type 2, but I had a lovely Valentines first and second course at a small Italian restauran, Gamberetti e Avocado, a cocktail salad of prawns and avocado and then Salmone ai Crema di Mare, (poached salmon cutlet, topped with italian seafood sauce) with veg and potatoes, these were about 7 very small cubed roasties, bs afterwards 7.5. Dessert, Fragole Roamanov, Strawberries with liquor and mascarpone. During the night I felt very unwell, eventually tested and it was well into double figures, after an insulin correction it was exactly the same a few hours later, so even more insulin, I miscalculated and paid dearly for it, not the sort of dessert I usually eat, so never again.

I completely understand. I've made too many miscalculations and paid dearly for days after. I can bring it down with loads ofninsulin but it doesn't like to stay down for 3+ days. Takes the fun out of eating out as far as I'm concerned.

We have been there a few times, it's a lovely family run restaurant and caters for my ceoliac too, but I will steer clear of the 'desserts' and just have a coffee instead, or should of just asked for some strawberries with a little plain cream.

That's what we did a few nights back, we had a starter and main course and then had a fresh coffee for desert :)

Can't knock it where is the harm once in a while? Good on ya :) I think in life you have to say B*****s to it every now and then, and tbh your numbers were pretty good considering what you ate.

Agreed. It was probably the high protein that slowed everything down.

We went to a smoke house rib shack kind of place on my birthday. I deliberately chose lots of meat and very low carb. Was amazed at how good my numbers were. Even had a sweet fruit cocktail as a pud and never went out of my comfort zone.

Didn't need to eat again for 24 hours though... ;)
