I had severe blurry vision lasting for 1.5 hours earlier today, checked blood sugar and it was normal so a bit confused of the cause. It eventually subsided and all appears normal now. Usual day looking at a computer screen, nothing out of the ordinary in terms of triggers. Quite scary as I couldn't focus on anything , certainly would of been in trouble if i'd been driving or cycling. Diabetes related or other , suggestions please?

It can sometimes be caused by medications. Read up on each medication to see if blurred vision is a side effect. This happened to me once and I saw my optometrist about it. His advice was reassuring.

Fast fluctuating BS levels could be another explanation..? (Just supposition. As not sure how your control had been performing through the day.)

Thanks for all the replies, BS was 5.5 mmol at the time and it felt 'steady'.
Do you ever get migraines? This could be what's known as an "aura"
I'll look into the aura possibility, thanks.

I took no medication throughout the day , only insulin. I've never heard of insulin doing this.

Could you have touched your face, around the eye with anything greasy, perhaps?

I've had something similar where I've managed to get (cosmetic) eye cream in my eye. That took a little while for my eye to flush through as it wasn't a irritant, just caused a film.

I just did a quick check on humalog and blurred vision is listed as a side effect:

However, I think it's more likely due to fluctuating BG levels.
