I genuinely can’t imagine a life without the lovely energy from a bowl of weetabix. I haven’t had diagnosis but my blood sugar is high now off carbs :( My brain loves them.

Your brain (habits) and taste buds may like them, but once you see a blood glucose monitor shooting from the green up and up into the red, you might find it much easier to like the slow energy burn from a protein based breakfast instead. I did!
Have you tested you bg immediately before eating and then 1 and 2 hours after? The resultant spike can be very motivating

Hi. Yes it went from 5.2 to 10.6 this morning. Is there any links on here please for recipes and meal ideas :)

There's this thread in the low carb part of the forum where we share what we've eaten, you might like it. :)

Do you like bacon and eggs? Lots of energy in that, very friendly for blood glucose, and to my thinking a lot tastier than weetabix.

What sort of things are you eating for it to rise to 10.6

I think it can be valuable to do what you are doing and turn an unflinching and clear eye on the loss as you perceive it. You are going to miss a simple pleasure that surely anyone should be able to enjoy, dammit, and that sucks, it really does. And facing up to that honestly, as you are doing, can help to find a new path that is more healthful for you.

So many recipes for low carb meals - try searching for keto on the web if you don't find enough ideas here.

Hello and welcome @Helgy

I completely relate. I also found it difficult to imagine a life without carbs as my major food group.

There are many recipes but my suggestion is to focus on the foods with no or very low carb levels. So things like meat, cheese (hard cheese in particular) eggs, fish, cream etc.

I found that while it did take a while for my brain to get fully on board it did eventually happen. I found the support and help I received here made all the difference and I hope you get the support I did.

Good luck and welcome.
