Hi all, I'm looking for a book or e-book to use as an emergency resource. My 2-year-old was recently diagnosed with type 1 and I was at some point stranded in a field without phone or internet service so couldn't calculate her insulin dose. Thank you in advance for your help. Kind regards, William.

insulin? maybe you meant carbs? The dose of insulin is selected individually and may differ tenfold for people of the same weight. Doctors usually prescribe a starting dose based on the patient's weight, but then this dose is adjusted, and given that children at this age grow very quickly, I believe that the dose will also vary greatly. Usually people just remember how much insulin they need for 10g of carbs and how much does 1 unit of insulin reduce their bg, and then calculate the dose based on these data. But here are a couple of links for calculating carbohydrates (I hope it will attach correctly)
