Hi all
Looking at my NHS notes, It says I'm Borderline/prediabetes.
I have an appointment with the doctor on Tuesday, so I've got a BG Monitor to keep a check on it
We've keeping a record of all our readings, we've also checked
what we can eat.
I've been reading people's experiences in the group, I've learnt a few things, but the main thing to come out of the
readings, is how unpredictable some of the readings can be.
And how some people say it can take time to stabilise, I've had a couple of readings that have surprised me, it's a real learning curve.
I've also printed off a couple of charts to record our readings, they are mostly OK,
but we've had a couple of readings that have been high, but they have come down over the next tests.
We have started taking notes of the what's good, and what could be pushing the BG
Up.
We'll see on Tuesday what the Doctor says, but I feel we are going in the right direction.

Hi again,

I’m a little confused by your post.

Are you suggesting you are taking BG readings & comparing them against a family member or partner?
People react differently to food. (For instance.)
Years ago I tested before & 2 hours later the effects of a meal on me & my non-D wife? I came out 6.6 my wife was 7.2..
my result showed a cunning use of insulin. Her’s was just normal..
Plus she’d also demolished a bag of chocolate covered raisins.

That was the first & last time I ever tried it.
I didn’t like the concerned look on my wife’s face with a marginally higher number which I had to belay concern while explaining why..

After I say that.
It’s great you have company in your journey regarding tweaking the diet.. :)

Hi Jaylee

No I am doing readings for myself, and my Wife is doing tests to check her BG.
We have separate sheets, so I have a true reflection of how I'm doing.
My readings are looking ok, but there was one spike in the readings, but reading other posts
this does happen.
Sorry I didn't write it very good ..

As above what works for some people may not work for you or may take longer, every one is different. The main surprises I have had are show some of the foods you thin are healthy are not. Rice is a good example for me as are certain ftuits Grapes and Pineapple especially

Hi Mark
I agree .. I've Read a few posts on here, and some foods are different for everyone.
It was just I did a reading before our dinner, when I did a reading two hours after the food, the reading was higher than the others.
It just seemed high, compared to the other readings, but I wasn't that concerned.
I'm In the process of listing healthy/unhealthy food, it's all a learning curve at the moment

No need to apologise.

Just didn’t want you to feel disparaged (or on a hiding to nothing.) when comparing your progress to either non-Ds or for that matter someone managing on prescribed diabetic medication?

I personally keep in mind my metabolic reaction to foods is a different ball game to “the next guy” sat in the doctor’s waiting room… ;)
As an insulin user myself some foods are off the list which other T1s have no personal issue with..
