Hi all,

I feel like I have been doing LCHF for about 6 weeks and I just feel dreadful.
Exhausted and napping for a couple of hours a day. Weak limbs, a bit down in mood. I don’t look forward to eating any more. It is a chore .
Is this what its like?
I think i am having a good variety of food.
Breakfast will be bacon or sausage and eggs , omelette with cheese and bacon, today tried Keto bread x 2 slices with smashed avocado with poached eggs and butter.
I’m not usually hungry at lunchtime .
Snack : berries with thick double cream or full fat greek yogurt
Coffee with coconut milk and and stevia
Dinner Thai curry, chilli, chicken and veg with butter, chops, etc

I take vit b supplement, and chromium and probiotics and today i had 2 berocca as well.

Is there anything obvious I am doing or not doing that anyone can suggest.

I also have a lung condition so i am a bit short of breath so that may be contributing but it never usually affects me like this. I am starting to crave bread and baked potatoes and low fat food.

Thanks for reading

Can you let us know which meds you are on? Metformin is fine with low carb but other T2 drugs need monitoring and may need lowering if your BS drops.
Are you testing before and 2 hrs after meals?

I was over my keto flu after about 3 weeks but got false hypos for a while (confirmed by testing I was never below 5.5 at that time).

As for cravings - this used to be my huge challenge on calorie diets but I thought hard about both my favourite foods and triggers when I started low carb.
I snacked mostly on small chunks of cheese at first, and saved enough carbs to have a couple of squares of 85% chocolate at bedtime.

You seem to be doing everything right, are you testing before and 2hrs after you eat? If so what are your numbers like?. It could still be carb flu, it can take a while. How are you sleeping at night?

I must admit i dont test very often. Just if i have something new. My sugars were around 8-9 before meals and about 11 after. Am on metformin at the moment but have had to ration them as i am running out so would rather have a lower dose than no dose. ( i am working up to 2g a day).
I did have an Indian take away one night last week and a little rice and roti so i wonder if that has set me back. It raised my blood sugar by about 3.

I am going to start doing sugars more often. One other thing i have done is started having unsweetened coconut milk in my coffee at home. Not sure if the stuff in cost is sweetened tho because it tastes nicer and thicker……

The Costa one is quite high, I remember when they introduced it looking at it, can’t remember now what it was - will check later for you,

Doing your sugars is a good idea, your flying blindfolded without the info of what your eating is doing to your BG. Once you get a good established set of meals/foods you can reduce your testing but in the beginning it’s the best tool in your armoury

@Slayer Mum a small coconut latte drink in store is 7.4g carb 6.? Of which sugars
Take away (they are obviously slightly bigger 9g carb of which 7g is sugar

Hope that helps
