Hi all, I had my first session of PRP laser yesterday around 24hours ago in both eyes. My left eye seems to be back to normal, my right eye is watery and can see close up but has no focus at a distance. I wasn't told anything at the end of my appointment other than he will see me in a few weeks.

Is this normal? Or should I call the eye hospital?

It's like a low F.stop on a camera removing depth of field in one eye!

Am worried that the laser has caused damage that I'll have to live with.

Thanks all Keith.

There have been cases of temporary short-sightedness after PRP laser but I would phone the eye clinic to discuss your symptoms.

Thank you. I'll call them in the morning. When you say cases of it, are they recoverable/ normal? Or quite unique?

Went for the checkup. Nothing wrong with the treatment and no explanation to the short sightedness other than "you must be short sighted" going from 2020 vision to this is a shock!

Did you have your visual acuity measured with an eye chart? How did that compare to your visual acuity pre-treatment? Was your eye pressure measured?

Yeah pre treatment 6/6. Post treatment couldn't see past the 3rd line!

It has now however solved itself! Friday. 4 days later my sight has returned.

After the Dr in the eye hospital confirmed no damage, and to go the opticians, it turns out something sent me short sighted for a period of time!

Great to hear it has returned to normal. There are a couple of reports of something like this happening after PRP, likely due to temporary changes in fluid levels within the eye preventing accommodation. Not very detailed but you might like to give feedback to the doctor who said you must just be short-sighted.

Thanks for sharing your experience @Biekmas83 I had my 3rd lot of PRP laser yesterday and was very worried about still having extremely blurry vision over 24 hours after. Your post has really helped settle my mind.
I’m normally short sighted anyway by -4.5 so going even more short sighted is definitely very difficult for me!

Will go back to the eye hospital if my blurry vision doesn’t disappear within a week
