Boyfriend diabetic

Hi Princess,

Your boyfriend may or may not be suffering from a fluctuation in his blood sugar which could be the reason why he may become irritable. The only way to know for sure is if he either tells you he feels his sugars are low or high, or by testing his blood sugar. If he's hypo then he'll need a fast acting sweet drink/sweets/Glucotabs.

I treat my hypos with fudge, it works a treat!

At times, a hypo can be a very scary experience and so is hyperglycaemia, if your boyfriend is feeling unwell he will need the love, support and the understanding of those around him but the best way to understand how diabetes affects him is really to ask him. My ex boyfriend was very curious about diabetes and researched it online, I had also explained it to him and within less than one week I was rushed into hospital with DKA. He was there for me when I needed him and his support meant the world to me at the time.

Depends on reason for him feeling irritable / angry

Is it because that is his natural persoality?

Or is it because his readings are either high or low causing this irritabilty and anger ??

Me, I can express more anger and or irritation at hubby than anyone else.. Not cos of my diabetes... Other males wouldnt get this reaction.. Just him.. Because I can..and my mum too...

Just when irritable:angry is it from levels being wrong or cos of personality??

Because I can get away with it..

With say tradespeople doing up my house who are meant to be professionals I will be nicely, politely telling them off.. If my husband did the same sort of thing I know I would call him a plonker...

Or for example... If my old neighbour at 90 told me things ten times, I wouldnt comment....or if I had to tell her something 10 times I wouldnt care... But with my nearest and dearest mum and hubby I hate having to repeat myself.. And I'll tell them 'i've already told you this before'...

My nature, my personality... That to me is my irritation and anger.. but not linked on my being hypo or hyper...

Good suggestion above to tryand find out what his levels are at time of irritation/anger. Or it maybe certain subjects that make him angry...

You say he's lovely and you wanting to help him.. Is he ok with his diabetes? Are you worried about that at all?

Princess he is a lucky man to have a gf that is interested in diabetes. There are some up
Funny/informative stuff on YouTube. Mike Lawson "my life as a pin cushion" and "diabetes police". X
