Brain surgery and blood sugars

Hello, can anyone help us. My husband has had major brain surgery and is on Levepiracetam for seizures but is he is finding his blood sugars are extremely high which they weren't previously. He is finding it difficult to manage ? Has anyone had a similar experience ?

Massively out of my depth here but I'll stick my tuppenceworth in anyway. Having not heard of this drug before I just searched google for "Levepiracetam and diabetes" but the only articles that I could find easily online seem to show that this drug is most likely to lead to hypoglyceamia to such a point that basal insulin can be stopped.

So your husband's experience doesn't fit with the 'scholarly articles' on this drug although that doesn't mean it's not raising his blood sugars. However I note that despite a long list of (unpleasant) side effects, elevated blood glucose is not on the list.....

Is it possible that his body could be fighting post operative infection?

I stress this is only a few minutes of searching the internet, so seek proper medical advice if the condition persists.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Also completely out of my depth, but has he by any chance been put on a corticosteroid like prednison or dexamethason as well?
