i wonder if anyone can help me out with a problem i cant work out. i have benn having the same breakfast now for months but everytime i do the readings there is no regular pattern. some mornings i get a 0.2 rise in a hour and it goes up slowly 2nd and 3 rd hour. some mornings i shoot a 7 after 1 hour then it comes down 2nd and 3rd hour. ive tried reducing the portion adding more nuts etc there just doesnt seem to be a regular pattern. ive even wondered that because the cereal was in a packet as you get to the bottom there was more powder than seeds. the cereal im using btw is lizis granola. i just find it so frustating that i cant get a regular pattern as in spike then low or low then high.

I have no idea why this happens. It is so frustrationg isn't it?

I have just been sitting here pondering my yesterday readings, as yesterday I had such a day of strange readings and I don't know why. It was just like any other day with the same food I eat regularly BUT my post meal reading were spiking at 11.5 and 12.6 and they were slow to come down. I have no idea why this happened, I do not normally go so high unless it is a special occasion and I have been a bit naughty. And I am normally below 8.5 2 hours after eating, but last night I was still at 9.4 over three hours after eating!

I did feel overwhelminngly tired in the afternoon but thought it was probably down to the high readings, I have no temperature or anything and today am back to normal so I am not sickening for anything. It is just one of lifes litte mysteries.

There could be many reasons for this. Do you ever drink the night before? Alcohol affects sugars sometimes the following day. Do you always have he same type of exercise every day? Generally, what other things vary from day to day?

No I didn't drink the day before, actually I rarely drink, and though I have experimented in the last couple of weeks with a glass or two of red wine, it is rare.

I did the same exercise - or lack of - I walk a mile or two a day, but no gym or anything like that. The day before I had walked a bit more that usual - I did four miles, but that is something I do sometimes and I it hasn't seemed to have this effect before, I even got up at the same time as usual, after the usual amount of sleep! I just couldn't think of anything different, which is why I was so confused. :?: Our bodies are so variable aren't they, and It all makes this diabetes business so hard to deal with.

The other thing you have to watch for is injection sites. If you use the same area again and again, you get build ups which mean the insulin can be delayed in its release. I've noticed this affects me if I'm not careful.

The injection site doesn't work for either bedshaped or me we are both T2 not on insulin.

I have come to the concusion that it depends on the was the wind blows :D after all the hot weather affects me!!!

just bought a low carb cereal from boots atkins museli and it quotes 6.4 g of carb per 25g serving so im gonna give this a try tomorrow as that granola is to up n down for me i want to give up testing not start all over again. however today i had a good result, we got a new toaster that does toast and a poached egg at the same time sooooooooooo----- 1 slice of nimble wholegrain toast with a poached egg, and another slice of toast with chesse. the carbs was 19g altogether so i skipped the milk in my coffee and got my tester ready....

morning bg -5.3

1hour 5.9

2 hour 5.6

cant tell you the 3rd hour as i went for a walk but on the 3 and a half hour mark i was on 5.0
i dont think il get away with toast on its own but hey a poached egg on toast twice a week does me especially if this atkins muesli works aswell. looks like the granola has worked its coarse and things move on. by the way ive found a good quality 85% chocolate tesco own brand in tescos this morning at 85p if anyones intrested

Ah, sorry about that

The reason for those particular odd readings is now discovered, and marky4 you are totally forgiven for not being able to help. It was caused, I now realise, by ovulation!

I was really interested to read this...I love porridge, but it doesn't fill me and sends my BG soaring up.
I will try the recipe given here and see if that helps. I'm in the odd position of being Hypoglycemic as well as T2. So it's like juggling with High BG and Low BG, if any of you have any ideas on this please help. I'm new to this site, but already have been greatly helped. Thanks to you all.
