Just realised that the breakfast I have been eating since being told I have Diabetes is full of Carbs.

Thinking I have been doing the right thing by eating breakfast, something I have never done previously, only to find out its the wrong food!!

Ive been having Wheatabix, Oat So simple Porrage, Cheerio cereal and Wholemeal toast.

Could sombody please give me some ideas for breakfast meals please before my fingers go missing???

Thanks

Re: Breakfast suggestions Please!!!!

Hi Taffy,I suggest getting a copy of Collins Gem carb counter,it's not expensive, and working out what you like to eat .Some members go for cooked breakfasts, not a lot of carbs there.Others go for cold meats.i like an apple with cheese, personally.I gave up on the weetabix because even one sent my BG numbers up quite a lot.
The low GI members suggest adding fruit to porridge, weetabix etc ,it works for some but ,unfortunately did not work for me.
The basic secret is to find foods that you like and use them, that way you will not get fed up of them and stray !!

Wot she said!

Kippers, poached eggs (any eggs, really), ham, cheese, cucumber, bacon, yoghurt, fruit. Anything except cereal and toast in a nutshell.

Only exception is that if you combine any three of the above on a small piece of toast, the toast doesn't count.*

Cheers

*Not really :(

Bit of a mixed bag, really. Some have quite a high carb and Gi and can push your readings readings way up, others not bad at all. Best to get the carb book and have a gander.
