Morning folks!
I have never been a breakfast person n my entire life. I usually eat very late morning, three or four hours after I get up. Even then it was usually porridge with a teaspoon of syrup. Now that's got to go! Since joining, I am reading that cereals generally seem to be a bad thing. I couldn't ever make myself a fry up first thing in the morning...the very thought abhors me. Do you have any ideas about what I could try? I have been having an Activia and a slice of Burgen toast but now I realise that Activia probably contains a lot of sugar. There is actually no break down of the contents on the pot! I have been relying on a bio yoghurt for my BM because I have IBS. If I don't have a bio yoghurt for a couple of days I get very constipated quickly.

On another note, I bought a Hartleys sugar free jelly. I was amazed to find that there is 0.3 gm of sugar in it. I know this is a negligible amount but if it's sugar free isn't it supposed to have 0.0gm sugar?

Who eats Atkins bars? Who can't do without their chocolate? Do those who eat chocolate just buy the dark high cocoa solid cooking type chocolate? Would welcome your thoughts. :)

Hi,

At the moment, I am having two rashers of bacon fried followed by strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and cream. Sometimes I fry leftover veg, anything except potatoes. Sometimes I grill tomatoes and put grated cheese and onion on top. Or just cold meats. When I have been low carbing for quite a few months I can manage the odd bowl of porridge with sesame seeds, but I'm not there yet this time round. If I'm not hungry I don't have breakfast at all which saves the problem, because like you I struggle with knowing what to have. I don't like yoghurt that early in the day.

I don't buy any snack bars at all, or chocolate, so I can't advise you on that. I will add dark (85%) chocolate in a few months time, but at the moment I am finding it easier not to have any so that I don't slip back into eating milk chocolate because I am a chocoholic. Sorry, I'm not very imaginative with food, I am sure someone more helpful will come along soon.

Thanks zand. I love bacon but I am on a low salt diet because of kidney disease. I could try a poached egg and grilled tomatoes I suppose. I keep meaning to get some whole fat plain yoghurt. Does anyone know if Greek yoghurt is made with goat's milk? I once had feta cheese when I was on a Greek holiday and my whole body got covered in a rash. Don't want to try the yoghurt if it's made from goat's milk.

Breakfast - eggs for me. Quick and LCHF keeps me going for hours. Not everyone can face them in the morning though.

Jelly - I eat sugar-free, gelatine-free, nutrition-free jellies. Good as a filler, but they don't add anything nutritionally.

Chocolate - always have 85% chocolate in the house now. I swear I eat more chocolate now than pre-diagnosis. Go figure.

Fage Greek yogurt is made from cow milk.

Thanks all :) I don't think I could manage bubble and squeak! I will look out for that yoghurt Avocado. Any idea who stocks it? Are there any fruits off the list? Are berries the best fruit wise? I have blueberries and raspberries in.

I buy Fage in Morrisons and Sainsburys. Not sure of the other big shops. It is soooo creamy!

Berries and, of course :angelic:, avocados are the best fruit. If you try other fruit, be sure to test your bg.

I think it's natural greek yoghurt and you cut up fresh avocardo
any fruit is fine as long as you portion it, roughly...half a banana = 1 apple = one and a half cups of strawberries

I used fat secrets to do the strawberries

The cauliflower mash gave me terrible wind and acid pain last night so will be staying away from that. I just had two fried eggs and a beef tomato for my brunch! I see some people have all-bran for breakfast. I got my BG meter today so I can start and see what really affects my levels. I miss my porridge :(

Ah, have just realised that Fage make that Total Greek yoghurt. I can get that in the shop close to me so that's good.

I would guess that that is the sugar naturally present in the fruit used for the flavouring, but are called sugar free as none is added to the recipe for them.

Yes I expect you are right there. :)

@Spiker
I think like potato you put it in the fridge for 24hrs, I'd read up on the potato resistant starch and treat it like that would be the best idea.
have a decent plate of it and then do a BG to see what happens
