Breathing Effected Taking Metformin

Recently diagnosed and having a problem with taking 500 Metformin time release. I have COPD and am on oxygen. Whenever I take Metformin I have breathing difficulty. Is anyone here taking another diabetic drug that does not cause this? I will suggest it to my physician. I am not good at maintaining dietary restrictions and find my random blood glucose normal before breakfast but sometimes spiking over 200 after dinner. I need to take another medication.

If you find your breathing is being affected, along with drowsiness, dizziness and confusion you should stop taking Metformin at once and seek urgent medical attention.

These are the symptoms of lactic acidosis, a rare but very serious condition that can be caused by Metformin."

Not saying that's what it is, but it's definitely worth contacting your doctor about.

I have stopped taking Metformin. I need to tell my physician asap. I simply was asking this forum if this has been an ocurrence with another member, if by chance, and what they substituted Metformin with. Thank-You
