Hi all one month tomorrow diagnosed T1.5 LADA... On rapidnovo 4 units morn, noon and evening and long lasting levimir before sleep 10 units.
Evening Bs always high pretty much between 12 & 18
I do pik here and there through the evening but nothing worth worrying about nuts, apple couple of crackers, cup of tea with 2 canderal capsules.
Does it seem a good idea or a trail to up my insulin a couple of units before dinner to keep my sugars down for the nibbling through the evening.. I no we r all different so just seeking thoughts....

I think you best contact your diabetes team about that. Most of us dose our insulin depending on the amount of carbs we eat. Are you in the UK? If so, you might want to look into a DAFNE course where they teach people about adjusting their insulin to the food they choose.

For instance, I would need a lot more insulin for an apple and a couple of crackers than for a full plate of cauliflower cheese, a steak with garlic butter and a salad.
In fact, injecting any insulin for the cauliflower cheese meal would send me straight into a hypo! Which is exactly why no-one on this forum is going to advise you on the amount of insulin you take.

Good luck, and please ask help from your HCP's with figuring out the right doses for you!

Dosing pretty much depends on what you eat and how you as an individual respond. And when you are newly diagnosed it will consistently change as time goes on.

It's an important step to learn how to dose for what you eat, allowing for exercise or any adjustments needed etc. They start you out slowly because it's a big learning curve at the beginning until you get the hang of it. But it's pretty easy to learn.

You might call and ask them if you need an adjustment

Most who take Levemir find that it may run out by about 16 hours or so. That may be a possible reason why your are experiencing trouble in the evening.
The graph below was tests done with short-acting insulin but it might apply to long acting insulins too. The smaller the dose of insulin ( and 10 umits of Levemir is not large compared to the doses some people mention in their posts) the les lng it lasts.
Please ask your nurse or doctor about this and whether you could try a split dose of Levemir in place of the single dose in the evening.
