BS readings going up with new medication plan as advised by GP

Recently my GP advised to drop Diamicron 30 mg ( used to take in the morning after BF) from my medication plan and continue with 2x50/1000 Janumet only. Although he advised to monitor how the BS levels change with reduction of dozes . He also advised if the average BS readings start going up ( above 8.0s ...,9.0s) ,I should start Diamicron again. I am almost 2 weeks without Diamicron 30 and can see that my readings are now ranging in between 8.0s and 9.0s most of the times . I am now thinking going back to Diamicron 30 addition with what I had been in the range of 6.0s-7.0s . Do you think, I should observe more days or 2 weeks are enough to conclude that dropping of the medication was not the right decision by the GP?
 
The Diamicron 30 mg is MR is it not?
I used to be on the non MR 40mg and was able to split them along the score.
Perhaps if your doc were to move you onto non-MR, the split tab would be able to give you a workable "halfway house"

Diamicron is a Gliclazide.
MR is modified (slow) release (Like metformin) unfortunately MR tablets can not usually be divided.
Dividing the tablets can sometimes allow fine tuning of doses.
An example of non MR would be apo-gliclazide which is 80mg scored to 4x 20mg!
