Bs readings

My bs in the mornings run between 101-127. I take my evening pill usually between 6-7pm. Do I need to take it later in the evenings? What is a normal reading after a meal? Mine usually runs between 130-175. I'm confused as to what is considered in normal range and what is considered high. This is alot to learn.
 
Your numbers are not too bad but a little higher than I would like to run at. If you pulled them all down by about 20 then that really would be ideal. What are you eating and what exercise do you do?

Ok. Thank you for your reply. I'm unable to do any walking due to i have rheumatoid arthritis and im unable to walk. I do try to do sit ups in the bed and arm and leg lifts. I try to eat right,but at times i admit i cheat. Would it help if i take my metformin later than 7pm?
 
I do not think the time you take the metformin will make any difference. What are you actually eating? By cutting down your carbohydrates (sugars and starch - not the fibre) you will be able to reduce your current values. They are different approaches you can follow: I followed a newcastle diet approach (you can read my 3 month story from the link in my signature), a low GI diet (you may be doing this already and just need a small adjustment) or a low carb diet. Let us know you normal diet and many others will be able to give your advice.

I can't help with your question because I am on diet only, but Metformin on its own will not lower your levels by very much at all. The correct diet is the key, which means cutting right down on carbohydrates. Do you do this?

I usually eat a bowl of Wheaties in the mornings. Dinner i eat baked chicken or pork chops with greens. No breads if i do its wheat bread. I've cheated before,and i know my reading was a little high. Trying to get bs to normal. Need help with what is good for dinner. Suggestions welcome.

There are no good carbs. All carbs turn to sugar once inside your system, which is why it is wise to eat as few as possible. The worst ones are cereals, bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and anything made with flour such as pastry or batter.
 
Yes. My 7 day average is 134. My 14 day ave is 126. My 30 day ave is 125. My 90 day ave is 121.
 
Averages of what? Your morning fasting or a mixture of pre and post meal?

It is better just to average like with like rather than a mixture, otherwise your averages might be weighted in favour of the readings you take most often,
 
Mixture of both. This is what my meter says. I have the accu-check nano meter. This is so confusing to me. Thank you for helping. One time my sugar was 55mg. That's to low for me. I felt like my body was shaking,and i just didn't feel well. Reason i didn't eat breakfast and had to stop and eat some candy til lunch time. Won't do that again.
 
The UK guidelines for type 2's are currently:

Before meals 4 to 7mmol/l (72 to 126mg/dl)
2 hrs after a meal under 8.5mmol/l (153mg/dl)

However, these are guidelines only, and are a bit generous. It is felt that it is better to be lower than 7.8mmol/l after a meal (140mg/dl) and under 6mmol/l (108mg/dl) before a meal.
