afternoon allie, i had a lovely time yesterday and no more cake

I've had a successful lunch today... pre-lunch 4.8 after 4.9. and my lunch included a tablespoon of pasta... so I am well chuffed...

Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well done Ally. To make you feel even better, I haven't been out of the 6's all day so far. I am having a bit of a blip day.

Why do you want to be in the 5's after eating? That isn't at all necessary. Even non-diabetics go up after eating, and 5's are unusual, and 6's are excellent.

Me too Ally. Just got back from hair cut. Chicken and leek soup. Home made. Yum
Guess what my lunch was alliebee???!! From the batch I made yesterday I left a jug full in the fridge and have frozen two containers also! I even put double cream in today's portion.......wow!! Even more enjoyable knowing we made it too?!!

Not at the moment she isn't but I'm going to be firm and push for real action later as it's been on-going with no real help

I am with @Bluetit1802 on this.

No need to make matters even more difficult than they need to be. Anything in the sixes two hours after a meal is excellent control in my book.

Very well done on the progress.

I would add to this, that a personal target of an average of 5's after a meal for most people (not all), may become unsustainable down the line. Everything I have read says non diabetics readings should be under 7.8 at 1 hour and under 6.6 at 2 hours. (Fasting under 5.5). If that is an acceptable level for a non-diabetic, then it is acceptable for me as a Type 2, especially as it means I am not totally depriving myself of favourite foods.

@ally1 anything under 7,8 mmol at 2 hours after a meal is considered as non diabetic so very good.

Personally I prefer to use 7,8 mmol after 1 hour and 6,7 mmol after two hours as my personal targets, allowing for a safety margin to ensure that I am well into non diabetic range and so minimize chances of diabetes induced damage.

I manage to meet those targets for most meals and when I do not, I am very rarely above 7,8.

But these are long term targets for a well controlled diabetic. If one is newly diagnosed and/or starting from high glucose levels, then one should reduce his levels to this target range gradually by concentrating on keeping his after meal counts within 2 mmol of his before meal counts.

So yes, being in the sixes at two hours after a meal is very good indeed.

Bearing in mind where your levels were a couple of months ago, just the fact that you are contemplating levels this low is amazing and a sure sign of the remarkable progress you have made.
