My 3rd HbA1c result today is 48 (IFCC), which is the same as it was in April. So the story so far is ....
June 2013 HbA1c 42, diagnosed impaired glucose tolerance, sent to D Nurse for processing.; embarked on rigid sugar-shunning diet as per NHS (ie, carbs), without medication.
September 2013 Dragged back to GP by wife fed up with being married to a skeleton. GP advises weight gain. (!!)
April 2014 HbA1c 48, diagnosed Type 2, sent to D Nurse for more processing. Continue NHS diet, not knowing any different, still without medication. Retinopathy test all clear. Feet prodded, more boxes ticked.
Sept 24 2014 Start LCHF diet & self-testing with this forum.
Oct 27 2014 Blood test as part of survey of diabetes (DARE). Results: HbA1c 48 will be filed as 42W.. 12 glycated haemoglobin, C-peptide 496 pmol/L will be filed as 449A.00 (don't know what that other stuff means). I await a summons from the GP.

Reading between the lines it looks as if the NHS diet was good for weight loss (and certainly got rid of my muffin top waistline) but my BS carried on upwards. What we can't know is by how much it had increased to the point where I began the LCHF diet five weeks ago, and therefore by how much the new regime has lowered it. However, I'm confident by looking at the pattern emerging from the self-testing that I can stabilise my BS at least between 5.2 and 7, and then chip away at lowering it a bit.

So once again thanks to all on this great forum and it's cauli-based pizzas all round tonight!

That's good news.

You haven't been on your new regime long enough for it to affect your HbA1c by very much as it will have included some of the period beforehand. You should see a nice improvement on your next one. Well done.
