Morning
So yesterday I had a weird stomach. Not full on diarrhoea but certainly not normal. Must have gone to loo a dozen or more times in 3-4 hours. Very loose etc. Didn’t feel overly ill (at start had stomach ache then just feel generally not right but not I’ll if that makes any sense).
Had porridge for breakfast (probably not my best idea) and had an Imodium. Didn’t stop and once at tesco meeting trainee I had to take another. It was another 2 hours till I went again but had to take another.

Sprang nurse who said stop taking pills, stop eating and go home. Have some sugary drink if sugar drops and don’t take meds. Am on forxiga. Don’t eat etc

So yesterday I dropped to 3.5 and had pint of cordial (diluted),

Hadn’t been to loo for about 5 hours so just had some clear soup (had not of beg in but nothing substantial) then was ravenous do had some crackers.

Not sure what happened but I felt lousy. Felt sicky heartburn and no energy whatsoever.

Felt lousy and worse than I had earlier (sugars were up and down but never as low as earlier). Ended up going to bed early.

Through night kept waking up and just had sips of the sugary cordial.

Woke up and trying to decide if I can drive and work today (driving instructor). Already cancelled 4 hours this morning. Just wasn’t feasible to get to Reigate this morning, could feel it wasn’t right.

Had some porridge, but again the odd stomach thing is back. Not like yesterday but not feeling right.
Haven’t been to loo (but had taken 3 Imodium).

Supposed to be teaching from 1 but still feel quite woozy.
Sugars fine. Woke up on 7.2 and after porridge 9.2.

Is this normal to be like this with diabetes. It’s my first illness (although don’t know if it was a big or just stomach wanted a clear out- ibs style).

Just feel quite weak and really just feel like laying on sofa.

On the upside can see how much progress I’ve made because my sugars were up and down in the early days and can’t believe I worked through it!!

But is this normal. Does it take longer to get back on your feet?

I don’t get paid if I don’t work hence pressure there but also know no point pushing if I need time off or will be worse in long run.

Cana - On the ocouple of times I've had a dodgy tummy since diagnosis, it has usually come and gone quickly. The only time it becomes a bit more sustained (for a fdew days) is if I mistakenly gluten myself. That isn't like a tummy bug, although it ends up similarly, but does have almost a timetable I can track with the reaction.

However, onto you.

Personally, were I in your shoes, looking to begin eating ahain, I might consider something like scrambled egg or an omelette. That might be easier to digest than something grain based. I'd always be thinking that way, bearing in mind I avoid the grains, even when I'm hale and hearty.

Take it steady. Nobody here can tell you whether you are fit to work or not.

What I’ve found is I can’t work out if it’s bug that’s making me feel week or diabetes and all that nonsense!!

Have eaten loads of ham today with some cheese.
Seem to be getting hungry really quickly lol!!
Am really not fancying carbs at all.

Strangely I feel wobbly. Hands feel like jelly if I try to use them as do legs.
Very disconcerting when you really don’t feel all that bad, just tired!!

Honestly, if you question if everything is linked to your diabetes, you'll drive yourself potty. (OK, maybe I could have found a better word in this instance.)

For myself, I decided up front that anything I had would be dealt with as a standalone issue, not automatically looking to link it with diabetes or anything else. The vast majority of the time things aren't related to diabetes, so that is my default assumption.
