Sorry to hear that, We all go through times like this .but as Diabetic we have the option to control our destiny to a degree
But I find it takes willpower which I lack..I am t2 since 1992 feeling fine except some Neuropathy..lchf.has helped
To keep my BG at a tolerable level.we wish you all the best.and hugs

Hi @Pura Vida, I'm type 1 for what seems like decades, the thing is I know how good it feels to have balanced control. Just at times lack the motivation or commitment. I understand and 100% agree with lchf, just getting off my backside and diving into it is a struggle. Willpower is NOT my friend

Ps I've read your jokes on the humour forum, you're a legend

Been in burn out myself for about 2 years. Nothing was working, huge amounts of effort only to get a slightly higher Hba1c each time. So demoralising. A few months ago I started suffering anxiety, worrying about long term effects. Had to go on beta blockers for a while.... But a chink of light - I did a trial of Freestyle Libre a few weeks ago. So helpful to see what's happening and be able to test instantaneously and with no paraphernalia. But so expensive. I wasn't going to continue as difficult to afford, but then I realised that the alternative was to continue as I am with my blood levels slowly getting worse and worse. So I'm going for it. Sensirs arrived today so I'm starting tomorrow. And I even feel a bit optimistic about it - for the first time in years.
Hope you find something to inspire a change in you. Good luck.

Hi @urbangiraffe, it is very demoralising. I've read a lot of members have tried the freestyle libre but it is costly. So glad to hear you're feeling more positive. Let me know how you're doing on it. Do you find it easy to stay away from demonising sugar??

As a type2 I find I crave sugar when my bgs are high. Only lower bgs get rid of that for me.
Just remember insulin isn't your enemy. Just a tool to help you achieve good bgs.
A temporary period of more insulin to get bgs perfect to get you swinging in the right direction?
I feel it has given me renewed hope.
I appreciate I'm a type2 so your swings may be more severe and can catch you out but one day at a time, works for me.
I leave my fbg on the thread daily to help me focus daily instead of before an hospital appointment.
Many type1s are on the fasting thread you are this a.m one. Your welcome on the type2 one but I think moderators try and disuade it for type1s on that thread.
The a.m one is for type1s too, I believe.

Thank you @ickihun, yes I go demented craving carbs and sugar when I'm high and usually stay high if I succumb. Sugar should be listed as a Type A drug... I do get obsessed over the amount of insulin I sometimes need to take. I know Dr Bernstein advocates insulin for type 2 to give pancreas a break and renew the beta cells. Mine obviously is kaput and the only thing for me is to low low LOW carb. Scrrrream. I would find it hard to put in my fbg as I have the dawn phenomenon and generally 8 to 14mmol. Not good. In saying that, was 4.4 this AM. Haven't been so good is yonks.
