Utterly and completely fed up with everything diabetes related.
36 years of it.
A month of hypos. Now ups and downs. No real help from hospitals and knowing their suggestions wont work. I have puchased a freestyle libre at my own expense and just going round in circles.
32 hypos in a month. Dawn phenomenon. 1 flip out at my work
Consultant option:
highs are bad. Hypos can kill you
your hba1 is good. Keep doing what you are doing. Not helpful when the average is based on 17 down to 2.2.
Any suggestions? ??

Could you look at what you are eating and possibly reduce your peaks and therefore your insulin requirement and therefore rate of falls.

Maybe @tim2000s will have some ideas
 
Hi @shopping.com, once it starts to get roller coaster like, I've found there's only one place to go from here, and that's back to basics.

It's highly likely that your basal insulin is wrong and as a result you are seeing hypos as a result of the insulin carb ratio being mucked up by that.

Given that you've got a Libre, the next step, a basal test, is loads easier. Here's a guide to what to do:

Once you've got this under control, it's easier to see where to go.

When you are happy with basal, look at your insulin:carb ratio for food. It may or may not be right. A good refresher on how to calculate it can be found at http://www.bdec-e-learning.com/ and it will also give you a reminder about carb counting.

Take it one step at a time. And as you have a Libre you can do this with far less finger pricking!

If only it was that simple.
Last week i could not get my sugars above 3.7 until it shot up to 16
I hypod after breakfast then had to eat another 30g of carbs to take it up.3.7
3.2,4.6 then 16!!!
This week. Being a freestyle connected i can see the low in the night and the spike but any lower insulin overnight takes it even higher.This is the advice of the sdn.
I feel it getting worse as opposed to better and wish i didnt care.

I have not had a review on my carbs since i was a teenager!!! I dont think it is far off and off to see the nurse on monday after nagging and verbalising my frustration over the last 3 months really.
I live in Wales and feel the care is poor. Not really changed since 1980 when i was diagnosed. I dont qualify for a pump and the last thing I want as reminds me of the diabetes which is on my mind 24/7 at the moment.
I need a miracle i think but thankyou for advice.

A miracle may never come, but getting your basal dose right and then working on your insulin-to-carb ratio will go a long way to reduce your hypo episodes, when you see your DSN ask about going on a carb counting course such as DAFNE (or equivalent).

Have been placed on a waiting list and been waiting since October 2015

wales is where I live too.
apparently there is a push to put more people on pumps currently in wales and if you think you could benefit it would be worth speaking to your DSN.
yo-yoing is no fun at all :(
 
Yes, Glycaemic variability is certainly a valid reason to be put on a pump.
 
I just think they are huge and not ideal for women if you want to wear dresses!! I went to a conference last year and saw one and unpleasantly surprised at the size!!! My worst nightmare.
